Medical Insurance Payment Posting Specialist

Established multi-specialty medical rehabilitation practice has an immediate opening for a Full-Time experienced Insurance payment Poster.


This position will be responsible for the accurate and timely posting of accounts receivable transactions, including cash receipts, adjustments, refunds, recaps, transfers, etc.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure all activities of cash application are coordinated and completed in a timely and accurate manner each day.

  • Daily deposits and posting of payments and cash receipts from patients and insurance companies to appropriate accounts.

  • Complete daily and monthly cash reconciliation.

  • Enter cash receipts into the practice management system both electronically and paper.

  • Transfer any unpaid balances, including deductible and co-insurance to the next payer, or self-pay according to the insurance explanation of benefits.

  • Enter appropriate payer recaps and refunds to ensure accurate balances are reflected.

  • Properly process all cash application adjustment and transfer request in a timely manner.

  • Properly post unassigned payments from quick pay batches to ensure accurate account balances.

  • Prepare bonus reports on a monthly basis as directed.

  • Updated patient responsibility spreadsheet to ensure all patients' accounts are up to date.

  • Contact Insurance companies and patients for required information.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • 3 years experience in medical billing and reimbursement, posting and reconciling third party medical payments is REQUIRED.

  • Accounts Receivable and cash posting experience.

  • Knowledge and understanding of healthcare payment process and application.

  • Knowledge of Commercial and Medicare insurance.

  • Solid organizational and math/accounting skills as well as strong analytical abilities.

  • Must be detail oriented and able to perform successfully in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Familiar with healthcare systems, processes and terminology.

  • Familiar with Electronic Health Care Systems.

  • Use of office computer applications, and general office equipment including scanners.

  • Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets

  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, supervisors, patients and insurance carriers.

  • Knowledge of practice management systems, preferably Allscripts.



  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent

  • Some college experience in business and accounting preferred
